But it's got a nice kick to it. No biggie I've followed the Harrier since the Kestrel days.

Spent 2 years on the DD/FE-1038 USS McCloy. We were an ASW ship, spent most of the time chasing subs around the North Atlantic.

Thanks for the image. I got an apology from a USMC site on the earlier post. Great image. Very spooky.

Those Harriers are difficult beasts to fly. To fly them in CAS must be well nigh impossible.

"Fallujah has been particularly challenging because of the congested airspace," added Hough, who graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2000. "You have to be able to find the specific target in a dense urban environment, close to Marines, with only a short time that you are allotted in order to enter the target area that you are sharing with other aircraft."

Problem must be with a limited number of posters. Images show up fine for most of us.

I was just at an airshow at Miramar MCAS in SoCal a few weeks back.

The Harrier is the LOUDEST jet you EVER heard. It's several times louder than any of the other jets I heard at the show. You just about have to cover your ears, and you can't hear anything else at all. The thing makes a SCREAMING noise within a half mile of you.

"The Harrier is the LOUDEST jet you EVER heard."

I roger that. I remember being in a Huey circling above the LHA-1 Tarawa a few miles off the Pendleton coast during Gallant Eagle '81; we were waiting for a flight of four Harriers to take off so we could land. We were at least a couple of thousand feet above the water, and those jump-jets sounded like they were just outside the open hatch.
