A California jury has the option of finding Scott Peterson not guilty or convicting him of first- or second-degree murder in the death of his pregnant wife.
A first-degree conviction carries the death penalty or life without parole. It would mean the jury found Peterson planned the killing.
A second-degree murder conviction doesn't require a finding of planning and carries a sentence of 15 years to life for each count.
The verdict is due at 4 p-m Eastern time.
