A .270 ought to do the job easy enough. :)

Boar spears are being used often enough now that I've even been seeing factory made spears at some of the gun shops I visit.

Catch 'em live and sell 'em is the way to go,for me.

.

I know a young feller that crawled up a gully the other day to get close enough to a bunch to put down a big one with a .22LR.

Couple days later, one of my boys was with an older friend that came up on a big bunch in the road and they used the Ford equipped with what I call a "donkey knocker" bumper to bring home the bacon.

Lots of different ways to skin a cat. :)

In Alabama we have ferral hogs mostly Russian Black boar. They can be pretty testy and big. I got a 350 pounder a few years ago at 150 yards in the swampy bog from a tree stand. I had to shoot left handed but I practice left and right with all my guns. One shot in below the ear with my 270. I have dropped some closer that got back up and had to shoot them again. I aint about to go after one with a spear. No closed season and no limit on them.
