Yes, Pres. Bush will end up with more than 61 million votes since CA alone has hundreds of thousands of absentee ballots that have yet to be counted. Also, OH has 155,000 provisional ballots that have not been tabulated. WA still has 80,000 votes to count.

Nearly 5 million Californian's vote for Bush nearly a half a million more then the next closest state, yet we have to hear how we are part of the left coast blah blah, though we have as many Bush voters as 10 red states combined.

Grrr..

Do absentee ballots "have to be counted" in states where the vote margin was not close?

I seem to remember from the 2000 election that military and absentee ballots are normally just thrown out -- unless the margin of victory in the regularly cast ballots for that particular state was under 1% or so.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see all valid absentee ballots counted, no matter what. But my understanding was that that's not the way it's done.
