"Wellington once observed that "nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won." Nothing about it is nice; but better them than us." -- T.C. Wretchard
As many of Freepers know, there's a very significant battle going on in Fallujah right now. Want a one-stop shop that will help you keep track of media reports so you know what's going on as things develop, and link you to some of the smartest background analysis around so you understand the why and how, as well as the what? OK, you got it. One power-packed briefing, in depth and in detail:
This briefing will be updated as excellent new sources are found, and events continue to develop. Readers are welcome to suggest additional items for inclusion via the full briefing's Comments section.
Highlight of the Night: Belmont Club with another really bright analysis. Its core? "Guerilla warfare, like all warfare, is logistics. It just takes different forms." He then proceeds to map out those logistics from the insurgents' point of view, and explains what that means (hint: a lot!) for allied strategy over the next 60 days in the Sunni Triangle.

Working on v3.0 right now, which will remain at the same URL but with an improved structure and some new materials. Carnivorous Conservative's maps rock.
As for the "Armed Liberal" stuff, he's my second in command. Think of Winds of Change.NET as a mutt produced by mating The Weekly Standard, The New Republic, and Jane's Defense Weekly. With a bit of MIT Technology Review in the mix.
Our idea of a fun future is a married gay couple sitting at home (which they own, thanks to a sane tax system), all ready to drive their hybrid car packed with assault weapons to the gun club and looking forward to their next deployment where they can kick some Islamonazi butts. Your mileage may vary of course. As long as your beef isn't the sane tax system, the gun ownership, or the smiting Islamonazis part, we'll get along.
And if you want to see WHY I made A.L. my second (even before he introduced me to the woman I'm probably about to marry), read his AWESOME 2004 Veterans Day post.
You'll be proud. I am. Of him... and of our boys (and women - note secret weapon Sgt. Kimberley Snow) in Fallujah. Semper Fi to them all.
