After a busy weekend protesting the Re-Election of President Bush, some Boulder High School students, and their teacher, Mr. Jim Vacca, got a visit from the Secret Service today.
The protest, which managed to attract Congressman Mark Udall (D), who is expected to run for governor in 2006, was only a warmup to the action this week.
Earlier this week, according to several dozen witnesses and the Boulder Daily Camera (you may have to register, no charge), a student band, with Mr. Vacca playing along, played out a song that called for the death of President Bush. The band, the Taliband, played at a student talent show earlier this week.
Earlier today, the Mike Rosen show on 850 KOA was flooded with calls from students who claimed that the band "advocates killing George W. Bush." The band is scheduled to perform tomorrow night at the high school, however, the band is no longer going by "The Taliband" but is now known as "The Coalition of the Willing." There will be a multimedia show during the song showing pictures of President Bush.
Apparently the band sang "George Bush, I hope you die soon" to the tune of their punk version of Bob Dylan's "Masters of War." Jim Vacca, facing a tital wave of public outrage, has dropped out of the band. It remains to be seen how the Secret Service will treat this matter.
LMAO!

My "baby brother" was FHS '77. You may have crossed paths.

"Just a guess, but I'd darned near bet they don't allow Bible Studies on school grounds."

You did it exactly right.... Very well timed post too...
You can't yell fire in the movie house and you can't suggest that you want to kill the president...
That said, maybe he is a 'true believer' in the 1st Amendment, exercising questionable judgement in a time of war.
OK...Johnny Ramone is still alive. Dee Dee died of a heroin overdose last year. Joey Ramone is dead, too.
So confusing, all of those Ramones! They ROCKED! Loved 'em. Last saw 'em in 1992 in Portland.
FHS 79? Ever hear about the guys that egged the student center during passing period?
I have two great memories of FHS. One was some eggs, the other a cheerleader. In that order.
I heard on a radio show this a.m. that the mother of one of the students in his "Bible class" said that her daughter was complaining that she heard more about why the teacher hated President Bush than she learned about the Bible.
gays vs. Christians
The homosexual community is outraged that they have not been given liberty to promote their agenda and they wish to destroy everyone who opposes them. For the sake of the nation, time for deportations.
Osama? Is that you?
Maybe the Ivory Coast needs a new French band.
What a loving dad. You are sick.
Haven't you seen the websites calling for killing of Republicans? It's not a new low, and it may not be mainstream, but it surely doesn't look like the fringe.
