What did Specter say last week? Specter, with the apparent support of Hewitt, claims that AP reporter Lara Jakes Jordan distorted his words. Specter didn't "warn" the president not to nominate judges who might vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. He merely predicted that such nominees would face filibusters.
This explanation will not wash. The senator said that Roe was "inviolate" in his view; that it was settled law, like Brown v. Board; that any nominee who disagreed would face a filibuster; and that he "would expect the president to be mindful of the considerations that I mentioned." Now it is true that Specter did not actually say the exact words, "I warn the president not to nominate anyone who might be against Roe," but his comments were not opaque. When senators want to warn presidents of their party not to do something, talking about what they "expect" or think will happen is the way they generally do it. In predicting a filibuster, Specter gave no indication that would resist it. The clear thrust of his comments was to advocate a preemptive surrender to it. That's what the man said, not spin from Lara Jakes Jordan. Specter's follow-up statement wasn't a clarification of his position; it was a way of backtracking. The press-conference remarks were spontaneous, the statement calculated. Conservatives shouldn't care about Specter's sincerity except insofar as it suggests his future course of action. I don't think that his follow-up statement is something conservatives can take to the bank.

"Bork" Specter
Arlen's making a Specter of himself.
Recall that alleged Republican Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, upon winning the primary, immediately backstabbed President Bush, who had campaigned for him instead of actual Republican Pat Toomey. Turns out Specter was just getting started.
We now see that the usually pro-Democrat Pittsburgh Post-Gazette endorsed the sharp-horned RINO in Tuesday's general election for this reason: "Before the Post-Gazette editorial board, he promised that no extremists would be approved for the bench."
What the pro-abortion Specter and pro-abortion Post-Gazette mean by "extremist" is anyone who isn't pro-abortion or who otherwise follows the U.S. Constitution instead of making up legislation from the bench.
"Even if he votes nine out of 10 times for the administration, we trust his word that the 10 percent of difference will be a brake on the worst excesses of a second Bush term, if it comes to that," the pee-yoo P-G snarled.
And there are these facts:
Arlen Specter:
Voted NO on ending special funding for minority & women-owned business. (Oct 1997)
Voted NO on banning affirmative action hiring with federal funds. (Jul 1995)
Success is near because of all the hard work we have done, but it is not yet over. The Philadelphia Inquirer, Washington Times, and United Press International all covered how the offices have been flooded with calls, but we need to keep it up as the fight does not end here! Make the calls all over again on Monday.
Also note the changes to the site, all the recent press mentions will be on the Why? page, but this blog should keep you fairly up to date on the goings ons.

Things are going fantastic over here, as we have gotten press through the Laura Ingram Show, several state pro-life alerts, and countless conservative e-mail lists, but the fight has just begun.
The rumor on the Hill is that things are about ready to break. We just need to keep up pressure on them to make sure it happens. So keep your eyes and ears open. NotSpecter.com also has some great resources that have gone up so make sure to check it out.
Also GrassrootsPA.com has a letter written by Specter to raise money that slams the conservative wing of the party, which puts to rest any argument over how he would run the Judiciary Committee.

Lest you think this is fiction - these signs started to appear in the Philadelphia area just before the election, paid for by Arlens former campaign manager. This particular picture originially appeared in the Philly Daily News.
Spector is less than a RINO. He's a satellite of Leahy.
Flush Specter.
I fear the Republican leadership is going to compound the mistake made by W's team when they decided to back this slug against a real conservative (Twomey).
I can hear the rationalizations and justifications for not "rocking the boat" as the Republican leaders meet to discuss the situation. The only thing they will listen to is pressure from us, their constituents.
Can we make the difference? Given what the slug can do to W's nominees, we had better make a difference.
Rightmarch.com is the conservative answer to MoveOn.org. They're doing radio ads against Specter...here is the info if you want to donate....
It's time to ride Specter. He will turn on us for it, but he will hear our Snarlin at Arlen. He has to PROVE by his actions that he is worthy of our support. No Judicial Committe Chair!!
I saw on Fox today that Dick Armey has a group that is fighting this chairmanship also. There is just so many things wrong with Specter. Not just the pro-abortion thing.
Hopefully, the above named group, and Armeys group, PLUS the pajamahadeen will do the trick.
I know one thing, I am tired of seeing the RINOS all over cable TV on lib shows like Hardball, spewing critisizm and back stabbing Pres. Bush.
Tonight, Chrissy had Hagel on critisizing Bushs war in Iraq. Hagel was saying how he and "other Repbulican senators" were telling Bush that he wasn't going about fighting the war correctly. He also mentioned a book by George Tenet. Has anyone heard about him writing a book?
Wouldn't the city be safer if he was 'outside the walls'?

Specter needs to move to Scotland and leave the rest of us alone.
BORK SPECTER, INDEED.
HOURLY, PREFERABLY--IN BROAD DAYLIGHT WITH GREAT MALICE AND AFORETHOUGHT . . . and every indication that if he opens his yap or pontificates or tries to influence public or any other opinion again, that we'll nominate him for Shrillery's Famous Friendly Fraternizing Frolic through a certain park treatment.
Of course she wouldn't dream of it. He's such a dye'd-in-the-wool globalist God and Christian hater just like she is.
He's just slicker and more covert at it.
I'd like to see a Spectre Specter poster . . .
something like him sitting with a sweet innocent looking smile on his face naked amidst a pile of murdered babies with gaping bleeding stab holes in the backs of their skulls.
Perhaps with a caption . . . something like:
"JUST DOING MY JOB PROTECTING WOMEN'S LOVING CHOICES AND SPOTTED OWLS."
Evidently this means Hewitt is a Shill for the puppet masters. I don't know of any other viable explanation.
I suppose it could mean he's a philosophical bedmate of theirs.
AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
