Heck, they wouldn't even tell us when he died. He's dead. No he's in a coma. He's not dead and not in a coma. He's in a "complex state" but not dead. His condition has remained the same. He's death announcement will be made tomorrow...but until then he's alive, we're sure, maybe.

Think of Arafart as Schrodinger's cat. The cat's state is very complex. It can only be revealed when someone opens the box and looks. The same was true of Arafart. His state only became known when PLO officials barged in. They found him dead.
