I have the film on DVD, and think it is great. I would, however, not want it aired uncut on TV unless it was a pay channel.
But ABC has aired it at least twice already, uncut and with limited commercial interruption.
I disagree. It's about time we started having an honest look at what war is to Americans. It is hell and it is gruesome, and it is also honorable and noble. We have selectively steralized a generation. t is gross and hyoer-graphic when it offends the sensibilities of those with a liberal agenda, but those same decision makers have no problem shoving homosexuality, hedonism, and debauchery down our throat ad nauseum.
That's just it. ABC knows perfectly well how to edit a movie so it would conform to FCC regulations.
Why not?
They warned people that it would be aired uncut, this way people have the choice if they wish to let there children watch it or not.
Personally, I think they should be showing 'We Were Soldiers' also.
I agree. It's a powerful movie but it's not enough to give a warning in prime time. Plus, if the FCC won't give a waiver then I don't blame stations for being gun shy.
It has already been broadcast - uncut - at least twice previously. Fortunately, my local ABC affiliate in Salisbury, MD is showing it and I'm watching it as we speak.
