I believe that it was around the same time that Janet Reno declared that I could be a terrorist because I

Arafat is the single most vile character in Middle East history. Not only is he a terrorist, but he has used the power of religious zealotry to mask the fact that he is one of the top ten richest heads of state in the world.

He has led the Palestinians into such despair that they strap bombs to themselves to blow themselves up in coffee shops. He chose to invest his time and ego into a hopeless war when he could have invested it in infrastructure and the local economy.

This man cares nothing for his people; only his intifada against his enemy, and has mired millions in this hopeless struggle.

the Nahariya/Avivim school bus attack, May 1970. Palestinian terrorists crossed the border from Lebanon, ambushed the bus with a barrage of gunfire, and murdered 12 children and 3 adults, and left several others crippled.

I was 9 years old when this happened, and yet it is one of the main things I will remember Arafat for. The other is the cruel murder of Leon Klinghoffer.

If Arafat had wanted peace, he could have had it decades ago. He preferred murder and suffering. It's a real shame he didn't suffer in dying the way his victims did, but I am confident that he now feels their pain.
