We hear all the time about AIDS in Africa being rampant, but I haven't heard a word about it in middle eastern countries. If what is reported about older men using younger men, is true, they must have cases of this. But I'm sure that not many ever get to a doctor for lesser illnesses, let alone AIDS...
Somebody can check this, but not long ago, I thought I read that a teenage suicide bomber was infected with AIDS so that he could cause more damage. I wonder if this was a related situation.

If 'they' know how many Africans are infected with AIDS, why don't 'they' know how many are infected in the middle east?
If I recall it right, he wasn't infected, rather got obtained some aids tainted blood which, not realizing the virus would die, he used to contaminate his shrapnel, along with rat poison I'm sure.

Remember, Clinton was reported to have a blood disease when released from the hospital last month. He looked majorly awful, and at the time I speculated that he had AIDS. I've seen enough guys in San Fran with the disease to know what it looks like.

Actually it's backhanded slap in the face to send some so low ranking for the funeral of someone considered to be equivalent to a "head of state". Probably even more than just not sending anyone would be. Normally for a head of state, you get the President, Vice President (attending state funerals was once the main duty of the Veep. :) or Secretary of State. To send an Assistant Secretary sends a message. (an Assistant Secretary is a bureau chief who reports to an Undersecretary who in turn reports to the Secretary of State, in this case Assistant Secretary Burns heads up the Near East Bureau, and reports to the Undersecretary For Political Affairs, Marc Grossman.)

Had read an article regarding the same customs in Afghanistan a few years ago at frontpagemag.com. Even saw something on Globetrekker, of all places. The host was in middle east and talking to some young men. Host asked why middle eastern men are so 'friendly' with each other-hugging, holding hands, kissing. Young men basically said they 'practice' on each other and keeps them 'pure' for marriage to a woman.
