We are so often deluded by how good we are by looking at how bad others are. Jesus tried to steer us away from that tack. In fact, Luther said Christians were never closer to the devil than when they were about to do a good deed.
One could, indeed, wish that Bush would bail on his Metho church, and go to an ole Baptist or PCA church, get some solid preaching in his soul. His muzzy, mushy love overcomes Biblical discernment too often.
(And anti-Christians see him as a fomaing-at-the-mouth Fundie! Pah!)

He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." -- Revelation 21:5-8
Seems clear enough to me.
Good for you.
Great photos.
AMEN!!! To hell with 'em!!!!
Right now, the propaganda is all that Arafat was oh so good. When the whole world figures out that he died from AIDS/HIV and the Arab community absorbs that reality, the shame emanating from that will stink worse and worse. Afafat's death from AIDS will bring him down from the mythic figure he is now in the Arab world.
See this story and articles posted within the thread for more info. The Old Media won't let us know, but the New Media have it well documented. "Rare, unknown blood disorder" my foot. He died of AIDS ...

Suspicions grow that Arafat is dying of AIDS
What a day of contrasts:
In Europe they are honoring the passing of the human obscenity, Yasser Arafat.
In America we are honoring the lives and memory of the most noble human beings ever to walk the earth our veterans.
Was the depravity of the "world community" ever more evident than today?
Though all terrorists will, undoubtably, pay a terrible price for their crimes, the perfect justice of Jesus Christ takes everything into account. Why did he do what he did? How was he raised? What did he believe? What was going on in his mind and heart? These are things only God knows, so only God may judge perfectly.
There is absolutely no question that murdering innocent people, especially children, is very high on the list of "thou shalt nots", and will be severely punished. But He loves every soul, even the evil ones, and will judge them perfectly, fairly and without a single degree of bias.
Who lied, cheated, and stole without compunction? Who inculcated the vilest culture of Jew-hatred since the Third Reich?
I agree with your comments.
I simply don't understand this need by some Jews and some conservatives to attack the president for a simple expression of faith.
In addition to the other remarks made about Bush's Christian charity, I would add that I expect he knows that blessing Arafat's soul would require turning it inside out and scouring it with a steel brush and lye soap. There is this thing called repentance, which means that being blessed is not always exactly fun.
Arafat's body hasn't even gone in the ground, and already I'm sick to death of all these politicians talking about how great he was.
Good post.
A short, respectful prayer for the passing of a fellow human being.
For decades, Arafat was our problem. Now he's beyond the reach of human judgment. Is it a dirty shame that we didn't string him up when he was with us? Of course. But that's old news.
Our president gave a short prayer of forgiveness, and moved on. Bravo, Mr. Bush.
