I think Full Metal Jacket is fantastic as long as Ermy is on. As soon as he dies, I think the movie falls apart, although others disagree. I thought the Shining was terrific. Stephen King, though, said it was the worst movie ever made from one of his books. He actually financed a remake using different actors. It was pathetic.
Come and play with us Danny.

His Egger suit must be slipping.
Good thing he didn't work on Law & Order with Angie Harmon - he might have killed her.

Full Metal Jacket: Great first half, vintage Kubrick... it also worked because basically, Lee Ermey had ALL the dialogue. Kubrick had real screenplay and dialogue problems towards the end of his career, witness the second half of FMJ and all of Eyes Wide Shut.
2001: A Space Odyssey: I say it's the best movie ever made.
Barry Lyndon: Slow, yes, but hypnotic and beautiful. I watch the DVD over and over... that's the best soundtrack, best cinematography, best costumes, etc. Highly recommended for history buffs, too. His second-best film.
Paths of Glory: His other masterpiece... again, history buffs will love it.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned "A Clockwork Orange". You'll never hear the song "Singin' In the Rain" in quite the same way after watching that one.

D'Onofrio starring as a guy who got run over by a subway train? That was some of the best acting and best TV I've ever seen. Tremendous. On the whole, Homicide was way ahead of the pack.
I've stopped watching some tv/movies because of the actors' politics, but I've stopped watching more because of the stupidity of the plotlines, ineptness of the actors, and pandering to the youth audience.

I totally agree. "Homicide" was the best.
I loved the whole cast, especially Andre Braugher...the black detective.

D'Onofrio was said to be devastated over President Bush's re-election.Well, he should look at the bright side---he can still visit the White House as a tourist like the rest of us. (SLAP!)
