Hill at Tufts: Use Bible to guide poverty policy
Boston Herald ^ | 11/11/04 | David R. Guarino

Hillary Clinton got religion yesterday, calling it a mistake for the Democrats not to engage Evangelical Christians on their own turf - essentially ceding the vote to President Bush [related, bio].
``I don't think you can win an election or even run a successful campaign if you don't acknowledge what is important to people,'' she said at a speaking engagement at Tufts University. ``We don't have to agree with them. But being ignored is a sign of such disrespect. And therefore I think we should talk about these issues.''
Clinton said the Bible should be used to win debates over poverty the way Republicans tried to use it on gay marriage.
``No one can read the New Testament of our Bible without recognizing that Jesus had a lot more to say about how we treat the poor than most of the issues that were talked about in this election,'' she said.
The former first lady didn't bother answering the ``will she/won't she'' question on the collective mind of the 5,000 jammed into the Tufts gym - but she gave enough of a hint to delight the partisan crowd of Hillary '08 backers.
Noting that oppressed Afghans were able to get a woman on the ballot for president in recent elections, Clinton called it, ``a feat that puts Afghanistan women ahead of American women.''

The crowd laughed knowingly, then went wild with apparent encouragement of the Draft Hillary movement.
The outspoken New York senator also rained on President Bush's post-election honeymoon, casting doubt about success in the battle for Fallujah and hopes for a new round of Mideast peace talks if PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat dies.
She bluntly urged Bush to use the election ``mandate'' to win over allies to help in Iraq.
``What is past is past - we have a second-term president with, in his words, a lot of political capital,'' she said. ``And I would hope he would use it both at home and abroad.''

No, He, didn't create marriage for confusion, but for a civilized people. A people that He called out and said to them, Thou Shalt, and Thou Salt Not.

He called on this particular segment of mankind to be higher than the animals. To love and honor Him, and to show that love by obedience, the obedience and self control, to live a life that does not offend Him.

After all it is God who determines what offends Him, not you or I. And by an odd coincidence, what ends up offending God is mostly those actions man commits that ends up, intentionally, or unintentionally harming himself or others.

Secular liberals have become so "enlightened", that they are now free to engage in any animal behavior and demand their right to do so, and no one is denying them that right. They have a right to choose to go back to the jungle, they do not have the right to make that choice for Society as a whole, nor do they have the right to distort, and debase, institutions created by God for those that follow Him.

Christians are the most tolerant people on earth, we don't stone the adulterer, cut off the hands of the thief, but these people have crossed the line when they want to stand before God and make a deviant mockery of Holy Matrimony.

Hillary better be forewarned.

Great idea Hillary..."If a man will not work, he will not eat" said the Apostle Paul speaking of those who sponged off the early church.

``No one can read the New Testament of our Bible without recognizing that Jesus had a lot more to say about how we treat the poor than most of the issues that were talked about in this election,'' she said.

Honestly, I've read this sentence at least 10 times and I still think this is a total ad-lib. A wandering, meandering sentence desparately struggling for coherence, and how she blathers like this in a live setting, frankly, is beyond me. I'll have to find the transcript and count how many times she said "you know" in a little while too. LOL

Yes Hitlery, it's important that you, "engage the Christians on their own turf". If that means lots of dreary photo ops in the pulpit and lugging around one of those heavy Bibles every Sunday, well some things just have to be endured if you're gonna grab the brass ring in 2008.
What a phony - is there anything she won't try to play as a "wedge issue"?
