Hill at Tufts: Use Bible to guide poverty policy
Boston Herald ^ | 11/11/04 | David R. Guarino

Posted on 11/10/2004 11:34:16 PM PST by kattracks

Hillary Clinton got religion yesterday, calling it a mistake for the Democrats not to engage Evangelical Christians on their own turf - essentially ceding the vote to President Bush [related, bio].
``I don't think you can win an election or even run a successful campaign if you don't acknowledge what is important to people,'' she said at a speaking engagement at Tufts University. ``We don't have to agree with them. But being ignored is a sign of such disrespect. And therefore I think we should talk about these issues.''
Clinton said the Bible should be used to win debates over poverty the way Republicans tried to use it on gay marriage.
``No one can read the New Testament of our Bible without recognizing that Jesus had a lot more to say about how we treat the poor than most of the issues that were talked about in this election,'' she said.
The former first lady didn't bother answering the ``will she/won't she'' question on the collective mind of the 5,000 jammed into the Tufts gym - but she gave enough of a hint to delight the partisan crowd of Hillary '08 backers.
Noting that oppressed Afghans were able to get a woman on the ballot for president in recent elections, Clinton called it, ``a feat that puts Afghanistan women ahead of American women.''

The crowd laughed knowingly, then went wild with apparent encouragement of the Draft Hillary movement.
The outspoken New York senator also rained on President Bush's post-election honeymoon, casting doubt about success in the battle for Fallujah and hopes for a new round of Mideast peace talks if PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat dies.
She bluntly urged Bush to use the election ``mandate'' to win over allies to help in Iraq.
``What is past is past - we have a second-term president with, in his words, a lot of political capital,'' she said. ``And I would hope he would use it both at home and abroad.''

Lib mindset cannot conceive of anything but "compelled charity" by the State. S'why Hillary is so attracted to politics -- to be the "dictator of the proletariat" is power indeed.

My heartfelt thanks to you, SoDak, and your fellow Republicans for dumping Daschle. As someone said, "Getting rid of the Senate Minority Leader is like sacking the opposition's quarterback."

South Dakota Republicans are the Monster Linebackers of the Big Red States.

"Expect to start seeing photos in the future of hillary! attending church on a regular basis. Carrying slick's huge Bible, if they can remember where they threw it."

My husband and I were just joking about that. The trouble is it won't fly with Evangelicals. We know wolves in sheep's clothing when we see them. LOL

Yes...she's running.

"Bring it on, Hill."

I guess she thinks we've forgotten her calling the Bible, "Hate Speech."

Reality calling Hillary, Reality calling Hillary, come in Hillary......

Hillary, the Bible disagrees with your view of reality, the Bible disagrees with your politics, the Bible disagrees with your lifestyle, the Bible disagrees with your habitual lying,.....THE BIBLE CONDEMNS LIARS.

By the way, Hillary, please do pick the Bible up, it won't bite your hand. When you do pick it up, try reading it this time instead of just looking at it.

And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made [them] at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Matthew 19:4-6

God never said anything about joining "Adam and Steve" together.

Gang tackling and pancake blocking for John Thune, All-American. Props have GOT to go out to the great coach, Dick Wadhams for putting together an awesome game plan. If you need to get rid of a rat in your own back yard, Dick Wadhams is the man.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hillary started holding prayer services in her Senate offices.

And maybe Bill will opt for the ministry.

Seeing as how the Clintons will do anything necessary for power, I wouldn't doubt Bill and Hill will start holding national prayer meetings. Maybe something like prayer services with the homeless and disenfranchised coming to a city near you. Maybe the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton will help out, taking the offering and spotting chicks for Bill.

Yeah, she will play the "liberal" religious game.

Billary fooled some Christians in their first outing..... musta killed the evil duo going to church and carrying Bibles.

But as a candidate, she'll need to answer questions.....uncomfortable questions that will unmask her deceptions.

Besides she has a voting record and has made statements that will label the liberal creep for what she is.

Oh, I agree, she's totally unmasked. Hildabeast won't win anything in 2008. She'll get her butt kicked bad if she gets the nomination.

Given Dumbocrats proclivity for self-destruction, after Kerry's 2004 ignominious defeat, giving Hil the 2008 nod would be an exercise in group masochism.

I don't see a scenario where they won't give her the nod. Democrats think she's the second coming. My neighbor(lib that just moved here from Seattle) thinks she's the savior of their party. The only thing that might stop her from being their nominee is if they run polls extensively and find she'll flame out bad. If the Dem bigshots see the writing on the wall, in the form of yet another GOP win, they might toss her over the side. I'm thinking suddenly of the moment in Return Of The Jedi when Darth Vader throws the emperor down the shaft.

I say this as a woman who thinks it's totally ridiculous we haven't had a female president yet but I truly think if a woman is to win she would have to be a conservative with a stong defense background.I just don't see some traditionalists getting over both the liberal and woman thing.

I don't think there's anybody Big Enough in the Dumbocrat party to take her on, or to precipitate a coup against her 2008 candidacy.

Who's gonna tell her she can't run? Kerry's making noises like he's the new spokesman, but his credibility is zilch.

Unless a Dim unknown is in the shadows and ready to step up to the plate, the Dumbocrats are stuck with Hil for 2008.
