I see. All us blue-collar folks are supposed to meekly allow ourselves to be displaced by third-world workers. If we voice our opposition we're liberals. Kiss off. Like your opinion matters one whit to me. Nah, your union leadership does that for you.

The Landscapers in my town have ski houses, shore houses, big cars and season tickets to all the sports teams. All the labor is 5-10 bucks straight. I should pay for the hospital bills, schools and welfare for his Labor?
Deport these people, give the airlines a boost.

Like I said. Some people just won't believe there are Americans who do these jobs and want to protect their wage-scale.
It's unseemly to talk about physical labor and hourly wages.
That's little people commie-talk

How many real "amnesties" involve paying a fine (answer: none)? An amnesty exonerates a criminal prior to ever being charged, so as to avoid the negative effects of wearing a criminal record, which generally would disqualify anyone from immigrating legally to the United States, let alone being naturalized.
No such blanket amnesty for citizens of the United States is being proposed for any other broad category of crimes.
Don't you think it just a tad odd that the President of the United States would reserve such extraordinary treatment for foreign nationals, and not the citizens he allegedly represents?
A tiny little note: I met an amnestied illegal alien in Los Angeles the other day (yeah, I asked him). He's now a security guard. He had a rather large semi-auto pistol strapped to his waist. It was truly surreal: knowing that this guy broke a laundry list of laws to get into, and stay in the United States, and he has nothing - nothing - in his background now that would point to such. Clean as a newborn baby, walking around with a big ol' hog-leg. "Yo soy Norteamericano".
And you think a lousy administrative fee is all its worth?
I might buy a little gastarbeiter program. Here's the conditions (only for those who apply from inside the U.S., while here illegally):
- They plead guilty to 8 USC 1325 , and accept a minimum 3 month sentence. They wear the record the rest of their lives.
- They are banned from using citizen services in the form of entitlements.
- They are not counted in the census for any apportionment of political districts, and their ethnicity is not recorded so as to influence such districts.
- They can never be the beneficiaries of preferences based on their nationality, ethnicity, or any other protected class set aside.
- The work visa can only be renewed once, and then the alien must start the ordinary application process to become a Legal Permanent Resident. At the end of term 2, he goes home. If the Permanent Resident application is in limbo at that point...Oh Well.
Actually I think even the last point is little too generous. We really already have such programs, such as H2A and H2B. The people we're discussing are the ones who decided they didn't want to bother with silly formalities like that. At most, those programs could simply be expanded.

EagleMamaMT's reply to my post is more example of that. I expect such rants from leftists, a la Michael Moore who always seem to talk how he is a "working class guy". So I take it you're a white-collar kinda guy, read the Wall St. Journal and all? In case you're unaware, blue-collar working class built the Republican party and elected Ronald Reagan. It's the corporate slugs who are along for the ride, not the other way around.

If they are working under the table, then they are officialy not employed and must return to Mexico. Of course, enforcement is the key. They won't return to Mexico, of course. Enforcement? The enforcement will resemble the current enforcement of immigration laws, nil.
With an estimated 15 million illegal aliens already here, and with some states going broke trying to support them, and with the knowledge that millions more will come to get in on the freebies, who will pay the bills? American taxpayers?
Will we have more of our hospitals closed? Will Americans have to build new schools? Will our welfare system go belly up? Will Americans have to build new prisons to house our guests? Gee, maybe we can send the bills to Vicente Fox, he'll be sure to write a check to cover it. If you live in a border state you'll know what I'm talking about. If not, it's coming to your state soon.

Are antivirals not drugs, Jorge? I don't know. Are they?
Look at your prescriptions and tell us.
And if you don't see them on your list perhaps you should try them.
In any case I don't take antivirals.
Sorry to disappoint you.

Youre welcome.
Maybe somebody lurking out there can take these thoughts and develop them further.
I do believe we can address this issue successfully with committment and will, and a carefully constructed plan.

Looks like Bush just ignored what the people of Arizona just said through their votes on 200. This crap is never ending.

Well .. that's a separate issue and since I don't know anything about what Fox wants or doesn't want .. I will not argue with you.
I was discussing the wording of the document - that's all.

Either he is insane or he is bribed or blackmailed. Look at all our soldiers dying in Iraq while the borders remaind unprotected to let in terrorists and other criminals. Our greatest threat comes form these illegal aliens and open borders. You bet it is.

Landscaping I hope your not saying that landscaping is skilled-labor. Its hard work, but hardly a necessity.
Hell, my son and me do our own landscaping.
