Raid in The Hague Leaves Three Police Officers Wounded; Air Space Over City Closed
Tampa Bay Online and AP News ^ | November 10, 2004 | AP Staff

"THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) - An explosion during a police raid on a house in The Hague early Wednesday wounded three police officers, while Dutch authorities closed the air space over the city as part of the operation.

Authorities would not confirm whether the raid was connected to an investigation into possible terrorist suspects, and it was not immediately clear why air space over the city - which has no major airports - had been closed.

Several city blocks were cordoned off in a mostly immigrant neighborhood near The Hague's Holland Spoor train station, and police demanded identification from anyone wishing to leave.

The explosion occurred as police raided the house during an operation they said was conducted on behalf of national prosecutors. Gunshots were also heard during the raid.

Two police officers were hospitalized in serious, but not life-threatenidg condition, and one was treated and released with minor injuries, police spokesman Frans van Rijnswou said.

The building was surrounded by police in riot gear, fire engines, ambulances and swat teams.

Photographers on the scene showed images of a man of Asian descent being dragged from the building clad only in boxer shorts and escorted away, but police would not confirm the apparent arrest. They did confirm there were still suspects in the building..." (End excerpt)

In the UK, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis are usually referred to as Asians.

Jihad in Europe has begun.

Odd how the media will use the word "terrorism" when an artist is killed but not when a school full of children is taken over and hundreds of children are killed.

It will be educational to watch the Nederlands respond to terrorism on their turf.

I agree. The thing that gets me, though, is the brazen nature of the assassination and the follow up violence by the Jihadis. Europe is reaping the rewards for their 'more sensitive' foreign policy. The Jihadis know nothing will happen to them, even if caught, so they openly attack European society.

Let a few mullahs show up wrapped in pig entrails, like Cagney at the end of Public Enemy, and they might get the picture.

Civilization has always needed a few damned souls who would descend to the level of our enemies on our behalf. The 7 Samurai. Will there rise up some criminal element willing to go to Hell to save Europe? I say criminal because Europe will clearly hate and condemn them, even as they depend on them for rescue.

Oh, wait, that's us.

They don't use always the same tactic. Belgium, November 9, 2004 :
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1275840/posts

In Holland Pim Fortuyn went from 0 to 33% in one year, after having gathered the most votes in the Rotterdam elections.
They murdered Pim Fortuyn, five days before he would participate for the first time in the national elections.
Two and a half years later they are so afraid of Pim Fortuyn, that directing a film about him (Theo Van Gogh) is enough to be sentenced to death.
In the case of Pim Fortuyn a green activist in defense of animal rights was used to cover-up the murder.
In the case of Van Gogh they don't have to use this kind of fantasy : the muslim suspect is just a good reason to provide protection to mosques 24 hours a day with police. The protection that was denied to Van Gogh.

-" Authorities would not confirm whether the raid was connected to an investigation into possible terrorist suspects,"

...because it was completely unnecessary...

Agree and great point. They are terrorists, they are murderers and nothing less. Notice how the media is using the word "insurgents" instead of the word "terrorists."

What would be perceived by most Americans as one grisly terrorist murder is turning out to be a full on assault on the soul of the Nederlands.

Not only has a beloved Dutch pop hero been murdered, but their deeply felt tolerance for cultural differences or "nuances" has been mortally wounded. See the new Freeper's story below:

"The killing of Theo Van Gogh and the aftermath Report by a Dutch Guy"

Some countries remember history and World War II. We need to recognize evil once again.

The Nederlands, Belgium, France and Germany must recognize evil and remember the same.

Never forget.

The best way for these countries to recognize evil would be to look in the mirror.

I would be interested in what Hollywood would do if a film producer were killed by a Muslim. MM would be a big enough target!

I was presuming that this was originally written for the UK market despite it appearing in a US paper. People from the far east are rarely referred to as Asian here. A Morrocan would probably just be described as North African, not Arab or Asian.
