I still have to give "flashbunny" a whole point.

The police operate in a law enforcement environment of which the WOD is only a part. No knock raids are not confined to illegal drugs.

No, they're not. But they are the majority of the ones that take place.

When there is a person's life in imminent danger, then you have a good reason to execute a warrant without knocking or showing your warrant.

But if your big concern is that some pot is going to be flushed down the toilet, it's not worth it. And if they're concerned about the dangers of storming the house, they should do a little surveillance and grab the bad guys when they are going about their other business - just like the feds should have at waco.

But some people prefer to suit up and do a dramatic raid to justify their existance rather than nab somebody another way.

All too true. They are now used routinely for most raids including IRS looking for computer records.
I don’t blame the individual officers. I blame the bureaucracy that has made it the norm, the courts that have allowed it and The People that accept it.
