I liked the book better than the movie - more direct quotes and relation of what happend from the Patriots who were actually there. Shugart and Gordon are true heros, and I fully understand Shugart's father allegedly not shaking x-42's hand when receiving the CMH. Those men should have had the AC130 Spectre flying shotgun above them.

Yes they are two of my all time heros. They knew exactly what they were getting into - and what their chances were of making it out. It doesn't get much press but I believe there were 50 - 100 dead skinnies around the Blackhawk. Not bad.

I have it on good authority that x-42 was stiffed on that day.

BTW have you read Durant's book? In the Company of Hero's. He tells things he didn't tell Bowden.
