Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell said on November 9, 2004 that he planned to stay at the agency, possibly through 2007 when his term expires, now that President Bush has been re-elected. Powell, the son of Secretary of State Colin Powell, became a commissioner in 1997 and was elevated to chairman in 2001 by Bush. (Kevin Lamarque/Reuters)

In related news, Secretary of U.S. Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman said today that she was awaiting President Bush 's decision on whether she will keep her job in his second term that begins next January. After his re-election last week, the President said he would review Cabinet appointments and key White House postings in coming days. Sounds like Veneman would like to stay.

He does a little TV, but the FCC chairman is not normally in demand on the news chat shows.

He should have had the class to tender his resignation for the new term as per tradition. Didn't his dad (who quite properly did so) teach him better than that?
