Islamic school set ablaze in Netherlands
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
THE HAGUE, Netherlands -- Suspected arsonists set an Islamic elementary school on fire Tuesday amid a string of attacks following the killing of a Dutch filmmaker by an alleged Islamic extremist.
Firefighters struggled to extinguish the flames at the burning Bedir school in the southern town of Uden, where someone had scrawled "Theo Rest in Peace" in the building in homage to slain filmmaker Theo van Gogh, but the building was destroyed in the blaze.
Uden Mayor Joke Kersten told Dutch television she didn't know the exact cause of the fire but suspected arson. She said the school had not been the target of prior attacks.
Arsonists attempted to burn down Protestant churches in Rotterdam, Utrecht and Amersfoort in apparent retaliation for the bombing of a Muslim elementary school in Eindhoven on Monday, police said.
Muslim sites have been the target of a half-dozen attacks in the past week. No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made.
Tensions have been high in the Netherlands in the week since the murder of Van Gogh, who was shot and stabbed in Amsterdam by an alleged Islamic radical after making a movie critical of Islam. A funeral was held for Van Gogh on Tuesday.
In Utrecht, police arrived Tuesday to find that a church window had been smashed and a container of flammable liquid thrown inside. In Amersfoort, several Molotov cocktails were thrown at the outside wall of a church.
Well Teezle... ask yourself; where are the "moderate" Muslims decrying this murder?
Teez... the silence is DEAFENING.
I shall offer such sympathy as I can..........
Just look in the dictionary.......
You'll find the word sympathy somewhere between "Sh*t & Sweat".
(That's all the sympathy you'll ever get from me)
Thanks for your reply. I totally agree with you except for the Bush part. I think Bush is falling in the same trap as some of the people on this forum.
I agree that he had to act after 9/11. Invading Iraq however is pushing Muslims into the corner which creates more radicals. At the same time radical Muslims have the opportunity in the anarchistic Iraq to inflame non-Muslims by beheading Americans.
So what is happening in Iraq is happening in the NL now only at a smaller scale.
Hi Teezle,
Don't you think the murderers of TvG should be released? isn't it racist to hold them against there will? Shouldn't the UN apply sanctions against the Netherlands? After all they (the killers) have the right to pursue thier religion and there political goal of turning the Netherlands into A Muslim haven. After all, you have made these demands and demanded sanctions against the US and Isreal for doing what you are now doing.
"Kill all Muslims" - Nobody kills Muslims better than a miliants Muslim. Read Dore Golds "Hatred's Kingdom - How saudi Arabia supports the new global terrorism" - eespecially the parts about the Ikhwans raids into Makkah, and the destruction of the shiites and their places of worship. Hell, just google for "iran iraq war" or for listings of the victims at places such as Riyadhs "chop chop square" or the EU soccer stadium in Kabul...
As for living in peace with Christians, please try googling "dhimmi."
I bet there are. You would have to read the Dutch press.
Also, the moderate Muslims are very afraid. They are the first victims of the radicals.
The moderates are probably quietly helping the Dutch government.
The Dutchies ought to challenge them to a soccer match and then let the hooligans have at it! The Dutch "Football Hooligans" are among the toughest in Europe, the ragheads wouldn't stand a chance!
Indeed I'm new to the forum. I was discussing the US elections for the past few weeks and some conservatives on the Dutch forum were pointing to your forum as underlinement for their opinions.
So I started reading your forum as well. When I read reactions about the country I live in I thought that I could give you people some insight in the Dutch thinking.
So that you don't have to fill that for yourselves.
I will read the homepage but would find it rather strange if you can only give your feelings about a topic when it is a feeling on which everyone agrees, and if you can only give your feelings about the newspost and not on the reactions.
Your comment is a little sad. Weren't Theo's last words, "We can talk about this."
Check out HTML Campfire.
I think that will answer all your questions. If not, just ask. ;o)
Perhaps you should educate yourself about the Bible. the first part, the Old Testament is actually the history of the jewish people and Judaism:no hatred of Jews there.
Also, please point to all your posts where you denouncd the"racist islamofascists pigs" recent atrocities... just for all to see that your are completely unbiased and fair in this debate. Thank you.
More likely skinheads.
If you believe that Iraqis were happier under Saddam Hussein than living in a democracy, which you apparently cherish, your statement would make sense.
Bush isn't pushing muslims into a corner. He's giving them new opportunities and a chance to be free. Now, why would that create more radicals?
Some people won't get it until it's THEIR neck it appears...
I don't believe it.
I have read the Koran (know thy enemy) and frankly, these worms want to use our plurality as a weapon against us.
"The Koran says that you should obey Allah or the Sharia but when you live in a non-Islamic country you should obey the laws. So I'm told by moderate Muslims."
Compare that statement to what the imam of the mosque in Lakemba (Sydney, Australia ) told his followers - printed in the 18th issue of Nidau'l Islam (removed from site.)
'The likeness of Islam and Kuffar is like that of fresh clear spring water and water brought up from the bottom of a suburban sewer. If even a drop of the filthy water enters the clear water, the clarity diminishes. Likewise it only takes a drop of the filth of disbelief to contaminate Islam in the West.
'If we have it within our means we should therefor consider moving to a Muslim land whereby we can at least live amongst our brethren and within an Islamic society free from the contamination of the disbelievers.'
I read that as a sign of hope. Hope that they will leave. The Australian experience with muslim immigrants has been most unpleasant, to say the very least:
