Agree with you on what Ashcroft has put up with being the left's whipping boy. They would never recognize a good man which Ashcroft is. I like Ted Olson as the next AG.
Rogan might be OK as AG. Was he ever a U.S. Attorney, or deputy U.S. Attorney General? We need someone with proven legal admnistrative ability, or statewide political skills. I know Ashcroft had the latter, and vaguely recall he was in the Justice Department during the Reagan administration (Guliani was either a Deputy or Assistant Attorney General).
I will miss John Ashcroft as AG. He has taken a beating for trying to keep us safe. He brought a great deal of experience and he had the courage to make difficult decisions even with adversities. He was also the Ag of Missouri I think. I have never seen a more courageous man face such a cruel and vicious senate judiciary hearing when he was nominated for AG. another reason to have Edwards out of the senate and off of this committee.
I hope and pray for John Ashcroft's health and peace with his family. I think his son is serving in Irag. God Bless this good and decent man.
Good. Maybe he'll run for the Senate and stop that catfight between Carole Keeton Rylander and Rick "I've Got a Secret" Perry.
Thanks. I'll get it and give it my best read. What you describe is disturbing.
"We" being defined as the people that believe it is wrong for the fedgov to prohibit states from outlawing people paying money to murder unborn babies.
You know, people that actually have some decency.
You apparently did'nt read or comprehend my post. Roe v. Wade was bad law. Only the court can reverse it. A strict constructionist position would have the contract killing of the unborn regulated or permitted by individual states. Common criminal law is not a federal matter.
No need to fight the battle politically. Just get enough people on the court to reverse bad law. Dred Scott was reversed, Plessy v. Ferguson was reversed, etc., etc.
>>ashcroft suffers from pancreatitis, and is in chronic pain.
Thanks, I knew he had surgery and was suffering as result but did not know the full details.
Historically, when a new Chief Justice is named, he has usually been an outsider. Of the 16 Chief Justices in the Supreme Court's history, only 3 of them were elevated from among the sitting Supreme Court justices - so Rehnquist being elevated as he was, was a relative rarity. The prior three Chief Justices before Rehnquist were all outsiders.
Ken Starr would be a great choice as well. He sticks to the letter of the law and more than likely would stick to a somewhat strick interpretation of the US Constitution.
I would hope that time has healed wounds, but the democrats are still so worked up about 2000 vote, who knows?
Apparently you listen to mainstream media spin too much. I suggest doing more reading here.
LOL!...those guys are so desperate over there for some bright ray of hope for their cause...they re saying that with Ashcroft gone the "voter fraud" and possible impeachment of * (their enduring name for the POTUS)will actually happen.
LOL!...yeah and Clintoon will swear off lying and sex.
Darn, I like John Ashcroft & HATE change. Hope no other positions get shaken up.
I agree. Giuliani is wrong for AG.
Besides, we need him to run against Hildebeast when she comes up for reelection in '06. Knock her out of the Senate, and forget about her presidential bid. Rudy's the only guy who could do it.
Yes, Ashcroft was AG in Missouri as well as a two term governor and one term senator. He is a decent christian man who has had to go through such a hell from the left. I applaud the way he has handled the job through such times...and came out standing like a man.
I know he will enjoy the time at home with his family. I do pray that his health will improve and that he will live a full life with his family.
Sounds like a diaper load to me. Evans is a close friend of W's, and probably can use some of his own earned political capital and run for office. Hope so.
Would y'all leave Rudy G. out of the Bush administration? He's a hard-working, capable man, but he's NOT a Conservative & it does matter.
