KSL Radio "Unofficial" Online Poll
Q: Would you like to see Orrin Hatch replace John Ashcroft as U.S. Attorney General?
73% : Yes
27% : No
More Conservatives are always good.
But we should not give a rat's patootie what Ted Kennedy thinks. If we had listeed to him, John Kerry would be President.
As it stands for the next two years, the Republicans are the majority party. They need to act like it.
Do what is right.
You gotta be Freepin' kidding me. Hatch is the maroon who wanted legislation enacted to burn up the hard drives of illegal fileswappers. He isn't fit to change the oil in my car for crying out loud.
Hatch has mishandled the appointment of judges, taking a much too conciliatory line. He is also completely backwards on the issue of intellectual property rights laws.
No! Too floppy for AG and would decrease Senate majority.
vaudine
Probably a pretty nice guy. So much so he's too chummy with the Democrats.
You see, that's exactly the problem. Senator Hatch cares very much what Ted Kennedy thinks, and that's why Hatch is not as effective as he could be.
I would much rather have a steel-spined conservative senator in the Senate and on the Judiciary Committee who doesn't give a "rat's patootie" what Ted Kennedy thinks.
I don't see a real downside here.
I don't want to see Ashcroft replaced at all.
He has done an excellent job.
Hatch as AG is both a hilarious and a frightening idea. I'd much rather see Hatch passing out shopping carts at Wal-Mart.
Well, he is from Utah, what do they expect?
Personally I think Hatch is a philosophical eunuch and should replace anybody in a key position. He lacks the conviction of even a RINO.
I think we are on the same page and are saying the same thing ,just in different languages.
Do we want someone to give illegals automatic citizenship and welfare and give file-swappers the death penalty? Hatch should be out of the Senate. He is a disgraceful, Kennedy-appeasing, illegals-pandering fool.
Hatch is a RINO. 'Nuff said.
Would you rather have him in a position to make new law of his own desire, or to enforce law of someone else's desire?
He is the prime driving force behind the intellectual property rights initiatives that trouble you. Wouldn't you rather have him gone before he accomplishes his goals in this respect?
That's the whole point of this thread. If he is named AG, he's gone from the Senate immediately and retires from public service altogether in four years.
It is possible for the Senate leadership to change his committee assignments. That is not likely to happen without his consent. Hatch is most unlikely to consent. It is the least likely alternative.
Understand Hatch has moved away from conservatism.
He definitely has. He's stayed quite conservative in a few areas, but in others has become as squishy liberal as McCain or Specter.
Hatch - No
How about Rooooodeeeee?
He carried water for Janet Reno as well ... remember Orin in the BCCI mess .... some AG
.
