KSL Radio "Unofficial" Online Poll
Q: Would you like to see Orrin Hatch replace John Ashcroft as U.S. Attorney General?
73% : Yes
27% : No
But that's not an option.
If the AG appointment is a "real deal" then I see an overall upside to his taking the position. With two and perhaps three SCOTUS positions opening up over the next four years, I cannot think of any committee more critical to the long-term health of this nation than the Senate Judiciary Committee. I want President Bush to field the strongest possible team on that committee.
Then you would rather he stay in the Senate for two to eight more years, drafting more "statist" legislation? That's what he will do, you know.
I agree...Hatch is not one for any cabinet position.
You'd rather have him in the Senate (and on the Senate Judiciary Committee) for two to eight more years?
If you think Ashcroft doesn't enforce our borders, wait until Hatch (if) gets the job. Illegals make up a good piece of the work force in Utah.
would he have to give up his seat?
We are a laughing stock....we are in a CIRCULAR FIRING SQUAD....and we just won a fabulous victory!!!
Let's aim OUT, shall we? I dn't like any of these moderate-liberal Republicans BUT the Democrat ones are ALL LIBERAL and I, for one, will go after them and try to destroy them instead of a Republican!
NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO~ He can't save squat....remember, and never forget how well he SAVED the hard coal fields, from being mined and putting people to work, in Utah when x42 made their coal fields into a national "treasure" so his friend Rihady, x42's money purse, could operate the only large hard coal field in the world. Hatch reminds me of someone with a backbone similar to cooked spaghetti. We need someone who is nice (which I'm sure Hatch is) but one who is firm and will stick to his/her Yes or No. Make a plan and stick to it. Hatch is too wishy washy, it appears to me.
And Rep. Chris Cannon thinks this a great idea. Sadly, no one seems to be able to dissuade or dislodge him.
Yes.
u people don't like Hatch? Wow! Is anybody conservative enough for you?
You'd rather have Hatch in the Senate (and on the Senate Judiciary Committee) for two to eight more years?
Hatch and Souter would make a great pair of bookends. no No NO to Hatch on the Court or as Atty General. Hell no!
Hatch is defintely not Attorney General material nor should he even be in the Senate.
Apparently, you don't remember his performance during the Clinton impeachment and his lack of backbone.
Attila the Hun, hon!
Oh, hell no!
On the other hand, I (and many Utah residents) have not been happy with his drift to the left over the years. I believe Hatch has become far too concerned about how he is viewed by liberals in Congress.
I would like to see Hatch go back to Utah and stay there.
I'd support him for Secy of Agriculture, but only because I'm not a farmer. Put him in a low profile cabinet job or none at all. He's be an improvement over Norm Mineta in Transportation, for example.
