>>For the record, when I was in grade school, they banned soda and candy. And there was quite a black market, lemme tellya.<<

When I was a kid I went with my parents to the farmers market every weekend and stopped in the candy dealers there. I made a killing buying wholesale candy and selling it out of my backpack when they banned it at our school. Parents thought it was funny until I was caught, then the school came down hard on them. I still remember my dad getting in the principles face when he started blaming him for lack of discipline in our home. (Dad was a firm believer in spare the rod spoil the child but couldn't find fault in me making money selling chocolate to fat kids at a premium)

What was your punishment? If it had happened today, it would probably be an automatic expulsion for violating the school's zero tolerance policy on "solicitation of contraband on school property"...that and you'd probably be reported to the cops and arrested for "conducting business without a business permit". Welcome to the 21st century...it's all downhill from here (but there will be a permanent boost on the Last Day).
