Maybe if Rush could emulate Savage, he could someday come close to matching his audience. :-)

I think that some of us need to take a deep breath. Fact: Specter is not Rush's idea of a conservative. Fact: Specter supported Clarence Thomas, in fact his support (as a "RINO" moderate) was probably crucial in the Thomas nomination, and important in the case of Justice Scalia. People now forget that Specter got many threats from the Democrats in Pennsylvania over his support of Thomas, and in he had a tough sled in his next reelection campaign because of it. Fact: No one, not even St. Peter and all the angels could have gotten Bobby Bork past a Democrat-run Judiciary Committee. Any guy who appeared to support segregated lunch counters, poll taxes and literacy tests (even if what he really supported was the theoretical right of the states to mandate such things), was never going to win Teddy Kennedy's heart, or even a majority in the Democrat controlled Congress. By not supporting Bork, Specter established the "independent" bona fides he would need to get Thomas and Scalia approved.

You have to understand how incredibly facetious I was being in saying Savage is all about the listeners. Savage is all about Savage, all the time. Rush is a gentleman and always respectful of his callers, something Savage will never be, and something the left will never know.
