What are those "fireworks" looking explosions? They burst in the air sending out multiple points of lights to the ground, which appear to explode on contact. Are they cluster bombs?

I think what you're seeing is an AC-130 gunship:

In these situations it's difficult to tell. It might be the illumination "snow" (flares) from aircraft (like a SPECTRE gunship) or it might be phosphorous. If it's the latter, it's nasty for the target. Phosphorous will burned fueled by air. Hence, water will not extinguish the acceleration. Packing mud on to the skin is pretty much the only way for an individual to control the burning. However, given the continuous aerial assault on these f^%$ers, it's "snow" to illuminate their asses. All in all, we are going to town. I only wish Taliban Lyndh were there to get some.

Dunno for certain, but I'd say some kind of artillery round that spread antipersonnel submunitions.

Cluster bombs. Anti-personel. Nasty critters. very effective. I don't know if they still load some with fletches (little steel darts about one inch long) or not. that made them even more nasty.
