MLK day really upsets me! We get that day off from school here in Arizona. I think what MLK did for civil rights for African Americans was great. But they won't give us Presidents day off which celebrates the accompishments of some of our greatest presidents. Such as Abraham Lincoln, who without him, the Civil War probably wouldn't have ended the way it did, which probably would have never given slaves any chance at freedom. Without Abe Lincoln, MLK wouldn't have had a cause to work on.
I think we should have Sam Houston day on the anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto.
I agree with you to a point. I would prefer a "Great Americans Day" maybe in early March, when we could really use a day off. If MLK is your guy, great celebrate. If its Lincoln great, if its Michael Moore...well, you get the idea. No group is left out. Cancel the MLK Day, President's Day, Columbus Day...etc.
For your sake, I hope the small but hardy band of "Southron patriots" who regularly post about what a tyran Lincoln was, and how John Wilkes Booth was a brave soul for shooting him in the back of the head when he wasn't looking, don't get wind of your post.
