The reason is simple math.
Boot Specter out, and you lose the votes of Chafee, Collins, Snow, and maybe McCain.
IOW, the GOP would be in worse shape approving judicial nominees than it was before last Tuesday.
I just called Frist and his mail box is full...FOX reported on the firestorm.Keep Freep'n!
That is far from decided. It will be up to the Committee Members and then up to the entire GOP caucus. Any 'word' is purely speculation at this point.
I'd have to see it to believe it.
"Boot Specter out, and you lose the votes of Chafee, Collins, Snow, and maybe McCain."
Are you implying Specter, Chafee, Collins, Snow, McCain represent an organized bloc?
In any case, Chafee's gone, and Snowe and Collins may as well be.
McCain isn't going anywhere despite his being a giant pain-in-the-@ss.
Specter hasn't dodged any bullet. He remains target #1 in America today.
I think your comments and Torie's are pretty revealing.
That pack of wolves commercial comes to mind.
