- The Bill, as written, was a dreadful mistake which allowed millions of dollars to flow into campaigns from big spenders like Soros who want to buy the Presidency. The speed with which Dems created 527's after the Bill passed makes me suspect that they were aware all along of this "loophole" and quickly acted to take advantage and subvert the election through massively outspending the Republicans.
On the other hand, the Bill brought the SwiftVet 527 into play which many credit as a critical factor in Bush's win. Maybe by trusting the Constitution and the SCOTUS, Bush made a tactical mistake which led to his eventual re-election strategic victory. Strange, isn't it.
