This is, in a nutshell, why I think the President won a second term. Not that Barney?s presence magically catapulted him into office again. (Not every voter is enough of a dog lover to appreciate the poetry of a White House littered with squeaky toys.) But Barney highlights the fact that, after four stressful years, Bush is still the real person he was when he took office--a man with guts, hubris, foibles, principles, and persistence.

And a man who spends perhaps the most important night of his life watching TV with his dog.

That takes a certain softness of spirit that Bush?s critics don?t like to fathom. To them he is the ignorant warmonger, brutish in his arrogance and apparent eagerness to attack.

But one simply can?t form a meaningful and authentic bond with a pet without reserving a certain corner of the soul for warmth and empathy. Bush?s relationship with little Barney therefore reveals a part of the tough-talking Texan that is sensitive and genuine--the very elements people tend to value most in their friends, relatives and, I?d venture, their politicians....

In many ways, George W. Bush is similar to the millions of everyday Americans in the heartland and elsewhere who voted for him -- which is just what drives crazy the haughty, over-educated, elitist bores who oppose Dubyah.

Contrast that with Clinton, who had his own dog MURDERED.

I kept thinking about poor old "Buddy" and the superficial way he was supposed to add "depth" to Clinton. And remember poor old Socks the cat - who was farmed out to the housekeeper?

Liberals - if you want a friend - please find another liberal and leave the innocent pets at the pound....where they will be better off.

They want to believe he is evil....and every time I see that in print, I honestly believe that the person who wrote it hats themselves and can't bear seeing goodness in others.

Also, we must all work diligently in the coming months to convince “progressives” that the Democratic Party has let them down. They must abandon the party. Their only recourse is to join and work for the Green Party moving forward. I may even register as a Green Party member to swell their voter registration rolls. Divide and conquer.

Begin with putting all known “progressives” in your sphere of influence on the Green Party mail list from their website. Great fun. Start inundating them with information now.
