Apropos of nothing, I'm glad to see the armed forces return to using real operational monikers. World War Two gave us "Torch", "Husky", "Dragoon", etc., but in recent years everything has been "Operation Improve Conditions", "Operation Restore Hope", "Operation Justice and Comfort", "Operation A New Beginning", or whatever.
How bout: "Operation All Your Base are Belong to US"
You're right. Too touchy feely...Sounds like George Lucas has been namimg these things...Well, I'd be ok with "The Empire Strikes Back".
yeah, like operation ask but don't tell.
Agreed. But you're leaving out some of the best ones from WW2:
Before "Torch" was called "Torch", it was a British operation codenamed "Gymnast". Some others:
"Lightfoot" - British El Alamein operation
"Retribution" - used twice, once by the Germans in Yugoslavia and then by the British in opposition to German evacuation of Tunis
"Sledgehammer" - plan for attack on Cherbourg, 1942
"Supercharge" - post-Alamein operations, 1942
"Vulcan" - joint Tunisian operation, 1942
"Cannibal" - British capture of Akyab
"Corkscrew" - British capture of Pantelleria
"Avalanche" - Salerno landings, 1944
"Hercules" - capture of Rhodes, 1944
"Dracula" - British capture of Rangoon, 1944
And, of course "Overlord" and "Barbarossa", but perhaps my favorite was the code name for the Allied occupation of Germany, Operation "Eclipse".
Anyway, the assault is on. Prayers for our troops.
Operation R.G. Lydy. Operation Crank up the Virgin Clone Machine in paradise.
A while back there was "Anaconda".
And don't forget "Operation lets get in touch with our inner child".
Just kidding LOL
How about "Operation Bug-Hunt"? ;-)
