France is a country that is not even twice as big as Colorado, with a population of 60 million. They have a national inferiority complex, and think that THEY should be the counterbalance to American "hegemony" now that the Soviet Union is defunct. I have news for them. In Europe's twisted thinking, Bush is nothing more than the epitome of the "Ugly American," the arrogant, gun-toting cowboy many Europeans and other non-Americans love to hate out of their own sense of inferiority, jealousy, bitterness and often downright ignorance of facts and figures.

In their more lucid moments, French survivors of WWII might want to remember that, but for some swaggering, southern-drawling Americans and our allied forces (Britain comes prominently to mind), their native tongue would be the same as that of "ze Fazerland" and they would be giving "Heil Hitler" salutes over their morning croissants.

Additionally, it is due to those same swaggering, southern-drawling Americans and our allied forces that the Germans don't speak Russian or are part of the (now defunct) USSR (again, thanks to us).

A mind is a terrible thing to waste and Europe has completely lost theirs.
