"Oh! Somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in Mudville -- mighty Casey has struck out.
When the mighty Kerry struck out on Tuesday, Bay Area voters in their Dump Bush T-shirts found themselves on a salt shore. Of the eight patients San Francisco psychotherapist Frances Verrinder saw Wednesday, seven were upset and frightened to the point of tears.
In another part of town, Joyce Renaker began "eating chocolate and speaking in obscenities."
"Where do we hang our hope? For years I've been hanging it on the election," she said. "I'm floundering, disoriented."
Vicki Cormack found her neighbor on her knees, weeping. Ron Armstrong of San Francisco is waiting for his upstairs tenant to come out of his depression so he can ask him for the rent check.
Berkeley writer Wendy Lichtman, knuckles sore from knocking on doors in Precinct 17 of Tempe, Ariz., threw out her roll of Kerry/Edwards stickers because she couldn't bear to look at it.

These guys are just rolling in their misery....LMAO
Ritual purification before reentering the abortion clinic.
No more rent for me. I've just come down with a permanent case of depression! ;-)
I was worried about this. The Democrats have the mentally ill vote down cold.
Penny Greenberg, who feels as if she does not belong in her own country anymore, offered, "My only consolation is that someday this planet will be a dead cinder in the universe and all the stupidity, greed, and intolerance and their sad, sad consequences will be lost to all memory."
And while they're busy with that, we'll take care of the winning-elections part. Sounds like a good arrangement to me.

You know, it's been several days now... and yet... I'm still enjoying this. Their agony is so... so rich and textured, so vibrant... gritty yet soaring... it's like wind in my hair and wet sand under my toes all at the same time. Suddenly I wish I were dating one of them so I could watch it up close and personal. Hm.
ROTFLOL
ONLY could happen in S.F. Should have had it in full on the first so that you didn't have to worry about the blue funk your tenant was going to experience from the election.
Prozac prescriptions to reach record heights!
"Meg Rosenfeld cleaned her house, did laundry, and caught up on long- overdue correspondence.
"Life has to go on and it might as well go on in a clean, comfortable manner!"
Good Attitude! This lady sounds like we might be able to win her over to our side!
I'm sorry these people don't realize that a win by their guy would have been a victory for the dark side, sorry about that folks! We had do defeat your candidate in order to save you too, that's what Rush Limbaugh told us to do!
They do it from the bridge in SF ~ remember, no knives, guns or bombs for them!
That was my favorite line in the article.
This says it all.
I hope they keep this up. Their reaction only reinforces the idea that they are way too unstable to govern anything.
Frisco is full of Ahabs tonight. :)

Far too much hatred on the left. Hatred is not an emotion that is good, especially using it for so long. Hatred is short term emotion at best in politics...it's hard to keep up the negativity and in my opinion, a lot of voters gave up on hatred and voted their morals and their conscience....which was for Bush.
Hatred will only carry you so far, but it seems that hatred is all the left has...well....left.
This is just way too funny, we should win more elections if they are going to fall apart like this.
This shows that there is no way they should be in charge.
Stupid wench. That's what she gets for depending on something so shallow and transparent as the Kerry ticket.
