Daley praises GOP, slaps Democrats

Published November 7, 2004

CHICAGO -- Mayor Richard Daley backed John Kerry for president, but Daley had some admiring observations about the Republican Party after last week's elections and some chastening words for his fellow Democrats.

"I think there is political change in this country," Daley said. "You talk about Roosevelt. You talk about Kennedy. And you have to talk about Bush. You have to give credit to his discipline, to the message he stayed on line. People made fun. They underestimated him all the time. He showed them all."

"Elitists" in the Democratic Party in Washington have underestimated the religious right, Daley said.

"They don't like people who have different beliefs than they do, who maybe read the Bible, read the Koran. ... They were shoved out, not to be respected."

And the mayor decried the "hatred" on both sides of the campaign, fingering at one point billionaire financier George Soros, a Kerry supporter who funded anti-George Bush ads.

"A lot of one-issue people," Daley said. "When I see a guy like George Soros spending $33 million--why doesn't he get a life and give money for scholarships? Why doesn't he get a life and give money to [poor] people in communities? Just because you hate one individual--I really worry about that.

When you get Daley almost using "W"s patented word "mis-underestimated", you know the end is near for the Democratic party.

There'll be another party, in the future, but this one ain't it!

Now that's a victory.

People like Daley and Clintoon are realists, and understand the Anybody But Bush hatred has been a disaster for their party. They will try and steer the Rats in a different direction... but if the DU is any indication, these fools are going to become even MORE radical as a result of this election.

I think he really admires the fact that we overcame massive fraud with sheer numbers of legitimate voters.

Don't be fooled. There is a very aggressive federal prosecutor in Illinois named Patrick Fitzgerald. Daley is just complimenting President Bush in order to keep the heat off of him from Fitzgerald. He is so transperantly corrupt and linked to organize crime that it is only a matter of time before he's indicted. He's just currying favor right now.

Daley's been a not-so-secret admirer of Bush for a long time. He's one of the few sensible Democrats left. Let's hope the national party continues to ignore him.

Me thinks Daley didn't run his views past Jesse "Shakedown" Jackson before he let them out. I"m actually suprised the media actually put those quotes in print.....

Agree..

I think alot of the party's leadership are realist..The guys at the top know what they need to do.. It's the middle-men and their constituents who keep inhaling these conspiracy theories that will keep them in the pile of rubble they are lying in.

Keep crying about being "cheated" Dems.. We all love it. Have that fat slob make another $100 million from you suckers with a "Vote Fraud" documentary. We see how well it has worked for you so far... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Losers.

People hungry for power will follow the winner. This is what corrupts a party.

Expect some moves by Daley and Evan Bayh to take over the remains of the Democratic party.

Remember, they are the only two major Dems left outside the East and West coast fringe areas.

Now, on to Iraq and terrorism and developing peace in the region as an investment in a more peaceful world's future.

I think Clinton admires Bush on the inside too. He's not that vitrol against him except when he's in front of the party nutcases.

He should admire him.. Bush is everything Clinton pretended to be while he was in office (Until he got busted.)

Could Daley be just another "finger-in-the-wind" democrat who's only real goal in life is getting or keeping power?

I don't know this Daley. But I remember his father. He was a crook...but he had a very keen instinct for self-preservation.

"Elitists" in the Democratic Party in Washington have underestimated the religious right, ... "They don't like people who have different beliefs than they do, ... They were shoved out, not to be respected."

This is a liberal Democrat defining his party's elite, and telling us that they are bias, intolerant, and prejudiced.

This unveils the true nature of multiculturalist liberals by one of their own, which is a unique peek inside the liberal/Democratic establishment of Southern Canada.
