Preliminary exit poll results had leaked throughout the day and were posted on a number of Web sites, including the widely viewed Drudge Report site, which added to the confusion and fanned the media frenzy.
To compound the problem further, a server at Edison/Mitofsky malfunctioned shortly before 11 p.m. The glitch prevented access to any exit poll results until technicians got a backup system operational at 1:33 a.m. yesterday.
The crash occurred barely minutes before the consortium was to update its exit polling with the results of later interviewing that found Bush with a one-point lead. Instead, journalists were left relying on preliminary exit poll results released at 8:15 p.m., which still showed Kerry ahead by three percentage points.
It was only after the polls had closed in most states and the vote count was well underway in the East that it became clear that Bush was in a stronger position in several key battlegrounds, including Ohio, than early exit polls suggested.

Exit polls are always wrong. Anyone remember 2000? They had Gore up in Nevada and Florida.
Isn't that convenient. Sounds like Zogby. Try and make up the information so that it looks like the election results. Exit polls have not done well in 2000,2002 and 2004. It is time to stop relying on them and just let the votes in the states speak for themselves.

Sounds like the exit pollsters are trying to cover themselves, but this does shoot a hole in the latest wacko liberal conspiracy theory - that the election was stolen by rigged voting machines. In their delusional world, all the proof they need is (1) the Pres of Diebold was a Bush supporter, (2) one machine malfuncioned and gave Bush extra votes, and (3) exit polls that show Kerry was winning.
Actually, in their world even one of these would be proof enough.
What does this clown, Morin know about exit polls, he spends his waking hours writing about and pushing the Gay Agenda.

Apparently, the wackos want to recount New Hampshire to prove massive voter fraud. This might ultimately be a good thing. If a recount is done and the results prove accurate (which they will), that would suck the rest of their theories right into outer space.
Obviously nobody took into account that the average hard working citizen didn't get to the polls until after his/her workday was completed.
