why is that these media elite--especially Dowd,in all her Dowdiness--always talks about "the Bushies" and all their so-called relationships with the Saudis and Ben Laden--but turn a blind eye to the corruption of the Kennedy family... especially the corruption of Joe kennedy... their entire legacy is based on the foundation of CORRUPTION to the hilt... and his children and children's children have paid dearly...

W.'s presidency rushes backward, stifling possibilities, stirring intolerance, confusing church with state, blowing off the world, replacing science with religion, and facts with faith. We're entering another dark age, more creationist than cutting edge, more premodern than postmodern. Instead of leading America to an exciting new reality, the Bushies cocoon in a scary, paranoid, regressive reality. Their new health care plan will probably be a return to leeches. Hey Maureen, settle down a little. Just a bit hysterical... boy is she throwing a fit.

She is elitist and she thinks her words hold power over us supposed "idiots" out her in middle america. You are toast Ms. Dowd along with the Times. The dominance you once used to know is gone and so are your reputations.

Even as a child, I could feel the rush of J.F.K.'s presidency racing forward, opening up a thrilling world of possibilities and modernity. We were going to the moon. We were confronting racial intolerance. We were paying any price and bearing any burden for freedom. We were respecting faith but keeping it out of politics. Our president was inspiring much of the world. Our first lady was setting the pace in style and culture."

All that diatribe just to say Bush is evolving America into a theocracy with tinfoil hat emphasis.

Manichaean values of the 50's Mo, do you mean...
Children are going to, once again, share a last name with both parents?
Schools and Universities are, once again, going to teach instead of indoctrinate?
Personal responsibility will, once again, be embraced, rather than being perceived as 'blaming the victim'?
The Judicial branch will, once again, reserve itself to interpreting laws, instead of writing them?

Maureen's writing has that one-of-a-kind mix...equal parts hysteria, projection and jealousy.
I really enjoy reading her increasingly bizarre rants. Can't imagine what she'll be writing in another few years.

Is it just me or does Ms Dowd seem a little upset with the election results?

"Just how much did Karl Rove hate not being one of the cool guys in high school in the 60's?"
Apparently not quite enough to become a commie propagandist at the NYT. This confirms my observation that life, for most liberals, is just an extension of high school student council: power without merit, no real responsibility, and spending somebody else's money.
To: Pokey78
He would defeat them, slaughter them and humiliate them.
So when did this happen? I can only hope that if this was Karl's intent that he meant legislatively, in which case I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment. Specter is a good place to start, but he's ONLY a start. We need to do a little tidying up first, then we can have at it. You go Karl!
To: Pokey78
"We were confronting racial intolerance."
Didn't happen while JFK was in office.

"I gotta admit, she gets me riled up"
Yeah, but is she really worth getting riled up about? Along with Helen Thomas, Maureen either produces these rants because she feverishly believes them, or she simply wants to rile up both sides. Either way, I personally laugh at her, because she's a joke.
She's relevant in her own Matrix.
My 2-cent suggestion would be to either yawn at Mizzzzzz "Dowd" (talk about a suggestive name), or smile sweetly at her and state, "Maureen honey, methinks you've got a private crush on Karl Rove."
