The republican party is now the party of the "people". In fact, its members are the same folk who were the heart and soul of the dem party in the WW2 generation.
The dems are left with a collection of special interests, the assorted marxists and those down on their luck and susceptible to the drama queens on the nightly news.
They believed their own nonsense and that's what did them in!
WooHoo ... Brevard gets the largest Republican gain per that map. I didn't know that. Lots of people worked really hard to make that happen. There was a steady stream of volunteers coming in asking what they could do to help. It was impossible to keep up with the demand for bumper stickers and yard signs.
Kudos to those nameless volunteers who gave countless hours in support of their convictions.
We had at least 3 of those incidents.
The legal team we had in Duval was incredible. Most were from Texas and Georgia, and myself from New York.
In fact, I am convinced the K/E bluffed in saying they had 10,000 lawyers while we really did have a good number out there on the streets.
In any event, I thought the whole Florida operation was awesome. I only wish we could have something similar in NY. We need it!!!
I did some volunteering to help GW in Florida the entire weekend before the election. The RNC GOTV and volunteers were AMAZING. People worked their hearts out. The Democrats had paid "volunteers" but we had people flying in from all over the country on their own dime to help. People from TX, PA, NY and other states.
While I was calling endlessly to GOTV, the Dems sent their sign stealing thugs around in white vans with Bush Sucks in yellow tape on the windows. The RNC person called the cop right away. While the Democrats were stealing our signs and spewing their hate, the Bush volunteers worked on and stayed focused. The positive enthusiasm was amazing. Volunteers came out of the woodwork. People walked precincts, made calls, made more signs so we could replace them as fast as they stole them.
It was great. I highly encourage all Freepers to volunteer in 2006, 2008 and beyond. When hundreds of thousands of people volunteer, great things can be done.
I saw a lot of my neighbors at the rally, neighbors who in the past had taken Dem ballots in the primaries. They were in a tizzy, too.
Man, GW took Pasco like Grant took Richmond. What brilliant strategery the Bush campaign employed in Florida this time around.
Leni
And the Dems still can't figure it out
Good Article .. thanks for the ping
Yep, interesting article. The Bush campaign came through on their ground game. The memories of the Gore campaign, and how he beat Bush in the ground game, were etched in their memories banks, like the faces on Mount Rushmore. Not again, said Rove. Don't make the same mistake twice.
Rove's biggest gamble was on unpaid volunteers. They came through. Big.
It wasn't just to save money. Their belief was that committed volunteers soliciting votes from friends and neighbors would be more effective than paid workers doing the usual "knock and drag" routine.
Where is that polling place exactly...?
My experience exactly. The K/E people were paid $600.00.
We were there for personal reasons. I guess we all know which won out!
