President Bush should enjoy his victory celebration while he can. He will soon face the most determined antiwar movement since the 1960s.
The Iraq situation is becoming more and more reminiscent of the Vietnam disaster. American troops mostly stay in heavily fortified barracks. When they do venture out, their sweeps don't achieve durable pacification. Militants and young men of fighting age are long gone by the time American bombardments start.

This paragraph seems to be where the author really goes astray:
In Bush's second term, the neocon architects who got Bush and America into this calamity will likely lose influence. In Ronald Reagan's second term, the ferocious anti-Soviet rhetoric softened, traditional foreign policy realists took over and Reagan pursued detente. One hopes the same thing will happen with George W. Bush.
The main reason this goes astray is because I believe Reagan's first term hardline approach set up the possibility to be more open in the second term. Yet, he still did not back down. See also: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall."
Another doozy is this:
The United Nations managed the Iraq situation far better than the Bush administration has
Hello, can you say Oil for Food scandal? Can you say ineffective inspection protocol and enforcement? I knew you could.
More wapoooooooey.
Double barrel ignorance. He doesn't understand Vietnam or Iraq. Look, Kerry lost, get over it.
> The United Nations managed the Iraq situation far better ...
Can you say "Ivory Coast"?
No, then how about "Sudan"?
This time we won't make the same mistakes in taking on the so-called antiwar movement.
"Hello, can you say Oil for Food scandal? Can you say ineffective inspection protocol and enforcement? I knew you could."
And right after that, I say ... Can you say Liberal bias in the media?!!!!
And that "determined antiwar movement" will scatter like cockroaches after a few of them get their dental work rearranged.
And what the hell is this crap about an "exit strategy"?? The Leftists want us out of Iraq toot sweet, but they pitch an unholy fit and basically have their periods in public when Bush mentions pulling our troops out of Germany and France! HELLO! We beat Nazi Germany nearly 60 years ago! Time for an "exit strategy" there, right?
I swear...these punk Leftists need to be turned over on someone's knee and spanked. (But considering the volume of perverts in the Democrat party...they'd probably like it.)
I'm still looking for the Barf Alert! :)

A sample of Kuttner's writings...FYI..He is a lefty.
He will soon face the most determined antiwar movement since the 1960s.Oh yeah? Back then, the anti-Vietnam movement in the West was organized and run by the KGB and their communist minions in the West. Now, who will play their role this time around, I wonder?
The DNC, Micheal Moore, the UN, the EU, France....
Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.... ;-)
The media elite are so 11/1.
You got that right.
I am focusing on the good news - we don't have a traitor as commander-in-chief.
Amen to your addition of the Ivory Coast and Sudan! I tend to have the Chris Rock view of the Sudan situation.
These people are absolutely delusional. What planet do they live on? They need to get out of their ivory towers and walk in the real world once in awhile. geesh. they refuse to admit that elections have already taken place in Iraq. Local positions have been elected. there are town councils and an interum constitution has been voted in. What part of election dont they get? Isnt this a part of it? Instead of Washington Post should be renamed Washington Past.
I certainly hope so, Chief. At least the new media will let us have another outlet beyond the MSM.
