THE HAGUE - The Dutch government yesterday vowed tough measures against what a leading politician called "the arrival of jihad in the Netherlands" after a death threat to a Dutch lawmaker was found spiked with a knife to the body of a slain filmmaker by his radical Muslim attacker.
A five-page letter released Thursday night by the justice minister forced political leaders -- including Amsterdam's Jewish mayor and members of parliament -- to take on bodyguards.
The document...was titled "An Open Letter to [Aayan] Hirsi Ali," referring to a Somali-born member of parliament. She had scripted Mr. van Gogh's latest film, "Submission," which criticized the treatment of women under Islam.
Miss Hirsi Ali, who calls herself an ex-Muslim, has gone into hiding.

"I know definitely that you, Oh America, will go down. I know definitely that you, Oh Europe, will go down. I know definitely that you, Oh Netherlands, will go down. I know definitely that you, Oh Hirsi Ali, will go down," [the letter] said.

Jozias van Aartsen, parliamentary speaker for the nationalist People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), the second-largest party in the government of Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende, issued a statement that called Mr. van Gogh's slaying tantamount to a declaration of war. "The jihad has come to the Netherlands and a small group of jihadist terrorists is attacking the principles of our country," he said. "I hope the Netherlands will now move beyond denial and do what is fitting in a democracy -- take action.
"These people don't want to change our society, they want to destroy it," he said.

The suspect, wounded in the leg in a shootout with police, has refused to talk to investigators.

I was just about to post this article...Perhaps the rest of the world will begin to realize that actively fighting against terrorism is everyone's responsibility--or, you could just wait until the islamo-fascists come to your town and start carving up your citizenry--your choice.
Have you seen the articles at David Horowitz's web-site FrontPageMag.com about the Islamitization of Europe. It is pretty chilling stuff. From all that I read, Islam is clearly on the march, and its goal is global submission--you know what history teaches us was always its goal.

Ah yes another example of how effective anti-gun laws are especially when the only people who possess them are the bad guys. Morons
This bears careful watching. Holland has long been a leader in social issues. How Holland reacts to this threat may tell us something about the future of Europe. I wish them luck.
I feel for the solid Dutch people, but they are reaping what they have sown. No morals, no individualism, no true liberties other than those granted by the state. In short, they have systematically destroyed all the foundations of Western enlightenment.
In the wake of their 'open' social contracts, they freely copulate with whomever they wish, they don't marry and build families. Whatever offspring are conceived through heterosexual couplings are conveniently killed. As a result, their fertility rate is far below replacement and their age structure is aging beyond what replacements can handle.
In short, they've been free falling for decades and are about to reach the end of the rope they have so willingly used to hang themselves.
I pity the good folks among them.
The amazing aspect being the "Diversity" mongers will still advocate unlimited third world immigration-even when they kill us!
I visit Holland twice a year . Ive seen over the last 4/5 years the growing Moslem population . The Dutch have been lax in keeping an eye out for this movement. The anti Bush movement is rampant over there . However , this summer i noticed a strong anti immigrant feeling taking shape in Amsterdam . I talked to many intelligent friends and I think a few are begining to open their eyes. Bin Laden DID say he WILL POPULATE EUROPE ..Wishing the Dutch the best and be "heads up " about this .
At least they realize the threat. Most of Europe continues to deny the existence of Muslims within their borders.

When I hear crap like this I think of the movie scene (the first "Raiders of the Lost Ark", I think) where the Arab guy in the marketplace jumps out and does the elaborate moves with his swords and Harrison Ford just shoots him.

On Sept. 11th, and the few days after, my best friend's mom was staying with us, my friend had asked me to bring her to my house since her other daughter couldn't get to New Jersey from Brooklyn.
"Mom" was a very educated, dignified lady, she was always a big liberal, I think the defeat of Adlai Stevenson was probably one of the biggest disappointments in her life. She was very elderly, over 80, and I felt bad for her having to see the terrible events of 9/11 after all she had already lived through, historically. At one point as we watched the discussions on TV about the Islamofacists who had attacked our nation Mom said "I was always taught that the point of Islam is to spread Islam at the point of the sword."
That remark just chilled me. I will never forget her saying that. Poor Mom died the last week of 2001, a crushing blow to my friend, who discovered her mom had stopped taking her blood pressure meds. I have always wondered how much the events of 9/11 may have contributed to her death.
I'll check out the links, we must not waver, but stand on guard.

Funny you should say that, I was very tempted to add a comment to the title along those lines "Can you hear them now" or something like that.
This is something that liberals seem to have a very hard time with. I've got a very liberal friend, I've said to her over and over "When people say they want to take over the world, believe them!" but she just doesn't get it. The world laughed at Hitler too, but the thing of it was, he wasn't kidding. The jihadis aren't kidding either.

The same is in store for us. We grant them Green Cards and H1 visas to allow them to stay and plot our destruction from the inside. While no country should make blanket statements that all muslims wish us ill, I am sure many are here to escape the lunacy of their former countries, I have no doubt there are many here working for our demise.
Now . . . I realize I'm one of the redneck rubes the liberals always talk about since I'm a rural and patriotic Texan . . . but can someone explain the concept of "Appeasement" to me again? Ain't that kinda like asking your enemies to "play nice" while they kill you one by one?
