You can look in any religious scripture and find justifications for about anything.

IF that is true, then not only is scripture worthless, it is perpetually dangerous.
You are saying the extremists are not incorrect or hijacking of anything.

Many theologians will make this point. Scripture used to be quoted in the South to justify slavery of black people, yet very few Christians would make this argument today.

The thing is to know the context of the quote. A servant in the Bible should be interpreted by Christians today as to mean only a servant. It might mean an employee.

A real religious message has to speak to people across the ages when their specific social contexts change.

Islam came to power in a tribal warlike kind of culture.
How much of what is seen as Islam is really just this older culture? Muslims are trying to sort this out.
