Well, I don't think the fact that we are going to attack is any big secret :-)
But WHEN, that's another story. We don't want to be spreading reports. The fog of war must do its job.
Lest we not forget the NBC embed (I've already forgotten his name) the blew the whistle on the NYT/CBS ammo story. Shut them up quick.
"Ohhhhh, no. We're just playing patty-cake with them right now."
The Boston Globe also added an embed, placing reporter Anne, Barnard......
Great! So now in addition to looking after their own six, in house to house combat, our MEN have to worry whether a female inbed has fouled the wire on her microphone.
Please, just let our guys clean out the nest of cockroaches
We can always use more body armor.
The Internet and modern search engines make it easy for troublemakers to discover schemes for making trouble. I doubt they need FR to tell them how. Though they may listen FR in order to try to discern troop movements.

Or as you suggest, war stories suggesting just how the Marines are likely to attack.
I know. We'll suffocate the town with feather pillows. That's the ticket.
Only if supported by infantry. They can be mech infantry, but the tanks need the support. It's not called a "Combined Arms" team for nothing.
What you really lead with is artillery and tac air. Maybe the odd AC-130 or even and HC-130 with a MOAB or Daisy Cutter, if the terrain and enemy dispositions make that useful.
I doubt that seriously. The Marines have been checking the folks who are leaving, and that started longer ago than just this week. They've been in the Fallujah area for quite a while, probably gathering intelligence from local folks who are disgusted at the foreigners in their town.
Why is it you expect the worst from our soldiers? I believe they will do us proud, as they have done since they set boots on the ground in Iraq. I'm frankly sick of people tearing them down on the basis of MEDIA reports. HELLO? Since when has the MSM been interested in reporting anything GOOD about the military.
I don't, and I'm certain YOU don't know what's going on militarily or politically in Iraq, so why not let the folks who DO know what they're doing, DO IT without cynicism from the peanut gallery!
