I read his words, too... he was saying that Bush would remember how the DEMOCRATS prevented his nominees, not saying that he himself would prevent them. It makes even less sense that it was a personal "warning" given that Specter has voted FOR all of Bush's previous pro-life nominees.

We're being played for fools and the journalist is probably indulging in peals of laughter at having caused this Republican uproar.

Specter was publicly asserting, to Bush, what sort of appoimntments Bush should avoid sending. That is arrogant, even if it is based in fact.

Specter is no friend of conservative causes. I hear you on your "party unity" chorus. Count me out on this round. Go pump up somebody else.
