After the Guardian pen-pal thing, there were a LOT of nasty posts and pics, depicting "Yellow-Toothed Limeys", "Tea-Sipping Pansies", etc.
He's got a point.
I like to think of our relationship as that between brothers (me and my 2 brothers, anyway). When I was growing up, we all made fun of each other. Sometimes, our comments were pretty offensive. It was hard to find a day when we wouldn't tease each other.
If some kid from the other end of the block made fun of any of us though, we would all be together against him. We aren't always polite, but we always stick up for each other. I like to think of our countries relationship like that. I may joke about a few things, but I will always defend Britain against any other country out there.
