Congratulations, Mr. President!

Statement of National President Chuck Canterbury

"With the the outcome of the election now known, the Fraternal Order of Police is proud and honored to extend its congratulations to George W. Bush on his reelection to the office of President of the United States.

"We have said all along that under this President promises made are promises kept, and we are extremely pleased that the majority of Americans shared this feeling as they went to the polls on Tuesday. Over the course of the past four years, the President and his Administration have stood right beside our nation's Federal, State and local law enforcement officers. And so from the day our organization unanimously voted to endorse the President, we have worked non-stop on his behalf-mobilizing members from Ohio to Florida, and from New York to Texas, to help get out the vote in their States and in their communities.

"Throughout his first term, we have had the privilege of working closely with this President, helping him to enact some of the most beneficial changes to American law enforcement in the past five decades. Because of the President's efforts, our streets and neighborhoods are safer, our nation is more secure, and we are ready to meet every challenge that lays before us. We look forward to his continued strong leadership of our nation for the next four years."

The Fraternal Order of Police is the nation's largest law enforcement labor organization, representing more than 318,000 members.

In contrast, the following law enforcement organizations do support responsible gun laws such as the 1993 Brady Law, and the 1994 assault weapons ban;
and opposed the 1995 attempt by the gun lobby to repeal the assault weapons ban.

Hispanic American Police Command Officers Association
International Association of Chiefs of Police
Major Cities Chiefs Association
National Association of Police Organizations
National Black Police Association
National Fraternal Order of Police
National Sheriff's Association
Police Executive Research Forum.

What does the 2nd. Amendment REALLY mean?

Handgun Control, Inc., Sarah Brady, Charles Schumer, Carolyn McCarthy, The US Center for Disease Control, Bubba Clinton and his misled allies in the
Fraternal Order of Police would have you believe the 2nd Amendment is no longer "valid" in modern times. They further distort the truth and history by
stating the Second Amendment only allows a "Militia" the right to keep and bear arms. This is a total falsehood.

Real cops do NOT support gun grabbers...imo
