Trick-Or-Treat? Boy Finds Huge Diamond In Candy
wfie ^

Posted on 11/05/2004 1:47:46 PM PST by Samwise

One Massachusetts woman was a lot more generous to Halloween trick-or-treaters than she intended to be.

Seven-year-old Hunter Campbell's candy haul included a 14-carat diamond engagement ring.

The ring slipped off a newlywed's finger as she doled out the treats in Natick, a town west of Boston. She'd just had the ring re-sized and it was a little bigger than normal.

The woman, Paulie Andreosatos-Gavin, spent a panicked evening looking for the ring before calling police.

Luckily for her, the boy's parents turned in the ring as soon as they spotted it in the candy haul.

The bride tells MetroWest Daily News she's sending the trick-or-treater a reward.

Tasteful. Hopefully her intended gave her a matching tiara and anklet as well.

Not 14.

Try 1/4 (or 0.25) carats.

Probably a typo: Karat, not Carat. Then it would refer to standard jewelry gold alloy the ring was probably made of, "583" in metric terms. 14 carat stone would be about 0.6" in diameter - difficult to lose without noticing immediately.

"How does she lift her hand to summon the servants?"

I wonder how bad a bruise she left on the youngsters forehead as it fell off her hand and into the bag?

How does she lift her hand to summon the servants?

She must have a "hand maiden" to help lift her hand.

Hunter's mother, Trish MacLeod, said, "I looked down and said, 'Oh, my God. I'm a woman and I know what a diamond ring looks like."

That's my favorite line of the story you linked. LOL

I can't believe the press got the facts twisted. /sarcasm

Which is more addictive to women: crack or big diamonds?
