What is going on with the blue counties and parishes along the Mississippi river in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi? I wonder why they are blue with read all around them?

This is the "Delta Region". The remnants of old plantations with many small towns of mostly-black populations.

memphis, St. Louis and other MS River cities have long tradition as labor towns moving farm products. Notice that in WS the industrial cities Milwaukee and Racine are near the lake and RED. - my opinion based upon observations not demographic or historical science.
