GROVELAND, N.Y. -- Part of a highway in the Finger Lakes region of western New York State is open again after a chocolate-covered mishap. Northbound lanes of a highway south of Rochester were closed for five hours last night after a tanker truck crashed and spilled 45,000 pounds of liquid chocolate. State police say there were no serious injuries in the crash. Troopers say the truck driver swerved to avoid a deer. The truck, from M and M Mars in Elizabethtown, Pa., rolled over and the tanker split, spilling its load. A road grader had to be brought in to scrape up the chocolate, which also covered a bridge and a car on another road below. The fire chief said it smelled like a Hershey bar -- but no nuts.

I fell into a vat of chocolate.
I fell into a vat of chocolate.
I yelled "FIRE" when I fell into a vat of chocolate.
....
Tommy, why did you yell "FIRE" when you fell into a vat of chocolate?
Dick, nobody would have come to save me if I'd yelled "Chocolate".

the truck driver swerved to avoid a deer. Hmmm..
I realize the choice was made in haste, but if I was driving 45,000 pounds, I wouldn't worry about the deer damaging the truck - cream the sucker.

I wouldn't worry about the deer damaging the truck - cream the sucker. Years ago a truck driver told me if an accident with an animal is unavoidable the best thing to do is floor it, and try to knock the animal away, thus minimizing damage to the truck.
I am not sure if I buy that, but crashing is certainly a worse option.
