I'm not sure Savage know what he's talking about. Our military, in WWII, didn't go around killing innocent civilians. There were many times our soldiers died because they wanted to avoid having townspeople caught in the crossfire, and the Nazis, Italians, and Japanese didn't care about those folks. We didn't know about that because we didn't have 24/7 coverage of the event. It doesn't mean those men died any less honorably.

I daresay that if WWII had been covered by the media like Vietnam or the Gulf Wars, people back home could have been as confused and frustrated as some are right now about our military, and could have been easily manipulated by some to continually harangue the Generals about their tactics, convinced that THEY at home had better ideas about how to win the war.

I'm aware of Dresden, and the firebombing of Tokyo, and of course Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and I daresay there were a few more episodes during the long years of WWII, but I believe our soldiers did not then, and do not now, make a habit of targeting civilians just for the purposes of intimidation.
