Our oldest daughter will be nineteen next month, is a college freshman, and voted (republican) for the first time as well. She lives at home and commutes to the university daily, so it has been an interesting experience for her mother and myself to listen to her tell of the daily barrage of leftist stupidity that she gets from her professors and fellow students. Sometimes it can be discouraging to see a budding conservative get 'the treatment' from people in positions of authority over you, but my wife and I have noticed that it has forced our daughter to think critically, reinforce her beliefs, and seek out the company of other students who share her ideals and ethics. She had similar experiences in high school, but college is a whole other ballgame. Now she is POLITICALLY ENGAGED. Sometimes when she comes home during the day we'll listen to Rush or in the evening, we watch Fox News together, and discuss the events of the day. She is becoming armed with the facts and is starting to see through the fog of left-wing foolishness for herself, and not base her opinions just on what her parents tell her.
